Episode #9: How we keep texturism alive and what to do about it.
Hey internet besties,
How is everyone this week?
First of all, I wanted to express my gratitude for your support on Episode #8 — all of your subscriptions are comments are so meaningful to me! Hosting these discussions and helping you all love your hair just a little bit more each day is the reason why I do this. Hi new besties, lovely to have you here 🥰
This week’s episode discusses the triggering topic of Texturism, and adds to the discourse by unpacking how we keep it alive, and what to do to get past it. If texturism is something you struggle with, no shame from me bestie. We’re all on a journey. As promised from my practical tip in this week’s video, I will be linking some textured extensions that you can start experimenting with. Personally, I prefer a headband wig (US link, UK link) — it’s easier on the edges, and easier to take on and off, but Maeve Nonye (@naturalblackgirliee_) on Instagram has a great video on clip-ins. Additionally, this week’s visibility corner (below) focuses on glamorous event-ready looks, because YES, you can bring your natural hair to ANY event. (Except for Khloe’s, lol).
Episode #5 has also been getting some more interaction lately, with mixed opinions. Honestly, I get the nuance — do what works best for you. I just know that for me (and many others I’ve talked to), classing textured hair into three groups hasn’t really helped me much.
Happy watching 💗

Song to do your scalp massage to:
Fun fact: Scalp massages do actually help with hair growth, but only when done consistently (and don’t worry, you don’t have to do any gymnastics for it to work 😉)
This week, I’ve chosen Eartha Kitt’s rendition of C’est Si Bon, so you can feel expensive whilst doing your little bit of self care this week. Don’t let anyone tell you your hair isn’t high end bestie — it is.
Weekly affirmation:
That’s all I have for you this week 😊
As always, get on the pedestal! (And take your time bestie. Getting the hang of self-acceptance is a progress — give yourself grace.)
💋,
